About the show

Although it's illegal, over 15 million people have tried cannabis. Even politicians admit to having smoked it in their youth. But, in the press, there are more and more frightening stories about the effects of the drug, and there's a growing debate about whether cannabis should be reclassified as a class B drug. Immersive journalist Nicky Taylor is off to Amsterdam to investigate. While there, she helps out in coffee shop the Dampkring selling cannabis and discovers firsthand how the drug affects daily life. Back in the UK, Nicky finds out about the genetically modified cannabis called "skunk," which is cheap and increasingly sold on the streets.

Can marijuana make you crazy? Is it worse than alcohol? And is it stronger than it used to be? Nicky takes part in a groundbreaking medical trial to answer these questions. Her month-long experiment is both disturbing and revealing.

About the Dampkring

Dampkring Coffee Shop Amsterdam

'The Dampkring Coffee shop' is well known by many as the most famous coffee shop in Amsterdam and for that matter probably the world! Situated in the Spui area very close to Amsterdam's other major tourist attraction- 'The Flower Market' the Dampkring is a must visit for most smokers that come to the city.

The Dampkring Coffee shop boosts an extra special look and vibe, the newly decorated interior is a stuningly beautiful array of swirling colours and shapes, guaranteed to stimulate the senses even without the help of anything to smoke. Both inside and outside are moulded, sculpted, studded and painted making the overall effect quite stunning.

It's this extraordinary décor that makes Dampkring coffee shop stand out from the crowd, and it was standing out that caught the attention of the Hollywood producers that used the Coffeeshop to shoot scenes from the well known 'Ocean's Twelve' movie starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney. During the days of shooting the film Dampkring Coffeeshop was a buzz with celebrities and fans desperate to get a photo or at least a glimse of their favourite actors.
